Ian Benway

ian from above with unbaked pretzels

I'm a third-year graduate student at Oklahoma State studying math. I spent my undergrad sleeping and studying math and computer science at Brown Univeristy. I'm interested in hyperbolic 3-manifolds, mapping class groups, and triangulations of 3-manifolds. Right now I'm thinking about how the set of geometric triangulations of a fixed 3-manifold is connected by local combinatorial modifications.

Sometimes I write bad code. Sometimes I bake. Sometimes I take pictures of geese. Sometimes I'm the image of an .

Here are some recent projects/papers of mine:

the cusp triangulation of the torus bundle associated to L4R6

A cusp triangulation of a once-punctured torus bundle with no available geometric 2-3 moves.

Here are some older projects of mine:

I don't use AI. AI is bad.
